I know that some people are looking for gift ideas for the holidays and I wanted to highlight two of my recent projects and suggest some other ideas.
I just finished putting together a 2018 calendar with my artwork. This is a lovely way to bring the natural world into your home and to share the beauty of nature. Each month features a unique illustration, which can then be removed from the calendar, framed, or just hung right on your wall or in your outhouse. These calendars are 8.5 x 8.5”, or 17” x 8.5” when open.
I’m offering them for pre-order until November 20th. They are $20 each and will ship the first week in December. You can buy them through my etsy shop, linkkristin, or through me directly.
I’ve written a bit about the Pop Up book, The Adventures of Apun the Arctic Fox, that I created the illustrations for. I also have a limited number of these books for sale for $24 each. I just put together a short video of a flip through so you can see the pop ups in action. You can also read more about my process of illustrating the book in this recent blog post.
Books are not available for re-sale. If you are interested in selling them, let me know and I can put you in touch with the project director.
If you have some sketchers in your life, check out this old, but still useful, blog post about my favorite sketching supplies.
If you know someone who loves to quilt or to work with fabric, my friend Maria Shell just put out an excellent book called Improv Patchwork. Maria has a cabin in McCarthy and has taught a number of workshops on sewing and creating art quilts at the Wrangell Mountains Center. She’s a great teacher and her style is fun and colorful. I’m looking forward to getting a copy because I love the way Maria uses color and pattern in her work. It is really different from what I do, but I think it will challenge me to try some new things.
