I spent two weeks in Savoonga as an artist in residence at the Hogarth Kingeekuk Sr. Memorial School. I worked with grades pre K-8 on science illustration and observational drawing and painting. We learned different art techniques including using value, mixing color, working with mixed media, creating science illustration, field sketching, and collage. Each technique was practiced through studying and depicting the local natural history or topics the students were focusing on in other classes.

At the end of the residency we had an art show at the school and invited the local community.
